A Slow Creative Winter

Dear reader,

This winter gently drew me into a slower rhythm — more quiet, more observing, more creating, without haste.

One particularly meaningful moment this winter was quietly releasing my calendar, filled with paintings that still bring me back to early mornings and soft winter light.

Around the same time, I painted the cover for my novel. There was something almost magical about seeing image and story come together, as if two parts of my creative world had finally met.

In my studio, a new kind of gathering place also emerged: handmade albums filled with different papers and bound together using a disc-binding system. They now hold my experiments, color studies, and small sketches — a growing archive of curiosity. Perhaps it is my favorite way of working at the moment, because nothing there needs to be perfect.

And in between it all were simple, cherished moments. Coloring for the pure joy of it — sometimes with my daughter, sometimes alone. A gentle reminder that creativity does not always have to be grand; it simply has to be alive.

Thank you for being here and for stepping into my studio from time to time.

Warmly,
Evgenia
